NHS Track and Trace will resume when pubs and bars re-open, and this time all visitors will be required to sign in, not just one in each group.
The details were revealed on a call with the Department of Health and Social Care on Friday afternoon. Track and trace will resume on 5th April and last until at least September.
Hospitality tech platform Airship said that while it won’t be mandatory, businesses will be encouraged to refuse entry for people who do not agree to check-in.
Track and trace will be required for outdoors as well as indoors, including beer gardens and pavements.
On the back of this news, Airship has relaunched its track and trace solution, Trck.to. Dan Brookman, chief executive of Airship, said: “I’m truly disappointed that track and trace will be required for re-opening the sector. The contact data previously gathered was not used and the effort of operators and inconvenience to customers went to waste.
“The only benefit for businesses is that they will be able to include an option for customers to opt-in to receive communications which will help to grow databases that have been decimated over the last 12 months.”
