Surrey Search and Rescue has collaborated with The Crafty Brewing Co on a fundraising beer, Torch Light IPA.

The search and rescue team have had their usual fundraising efforts curtailed because of the pandemic. The 4.2% ABV India pale ale will help boost their coffers.

Torch Light is lightly-hopped, golden amber beer, bearing all the hallmarks of its four international hop superstars — Simcoe, Chinook, Amarillo and Perle. Refreshing citrus and floral grassy notes are mellowed by toasted fine English crystal malts.

As well as raising funds, Surrey SAR wanted The Crafty Brewing Company to put a water safety message on every bottle. They went with the slogan: “More than 60% of people drowned whilst intoxicated had no intention of entering the water. Don’t let your friends walk home on their own.”

Ryan Port, the Surrey Search and Rescue volunteer whose photo is featured on the Torch Light IPA bottle, said: “A huge thank you to The Crafty Brewing Company for their support. They managed to put on a great virtual tasting session which resulted in an amazing partnership. The best IPA by far!”

Luke Herman, founder of the Crafty Brewing Company, added: “It is an honour and a privilege to be able to support Surrey Search and Rescue by making this beer for them. I know that the funds we can raise for them will be put to great use helping those in need.”

The beer is available to buy directly from The Crafty Brewing Company on its website, as well as in specialist retailers and pubs across Surrey.
