Shepherd Neame has announced the winners of its annual pub awards, with ten of its 322 pubs and hotels across London and the South East taking home prizes.

The overall pub of the year award went to the Market House, in Maidstone, while the Dover Castle Inn, Teynham, was named tenanted pub of the year, and The Spitfire, in West Malling, was named best managed business.

Shepherd Neame chief executive, Jonathan Neame, said: “It has been another fantastic year for our pub estate. Our aim is to deliver a unique customer experience by offering an interesting range of products and great fresh food in characterful outlets.

“The most important factor in the success of any pub, however, is its people, and we are very proud of our talented team. These awards are aimed at recognising the hard work, dedication, and creativity of our licensees and staff, and celebrating excellence in our industry.”

The award for best pub food went to The Dove, in Dargate, The Green Man, in Herongate, won the beer hero award for the excellence of its cask ales, while the Walnut Tree Inn, Aldington, was honoured for being at the heart of the community.
