To coincide with this month’s Cask Ale Week (September 19-29), Sharp’s Brewery is launching new brewery tours and beer tasting experiences.
The tours have a limited capacity for an intimate experience, with only six adults per session. The tasting sessions, however, can accommodate up to 14 people and visitors can choose to do either one or both.
The tours are operating from Tuesdays to Fridays at 2pm. Tasting only starts at about 2.45pm and costs £20 per person. For those who wish to take part in a tour and a subsequent tasting session, the tour and tasting package costs £30 per head and consists of 30 minutes in the brewery followed by a tutored tasting session of some 90 minutes. Participants will taste a plethora of ales, including a selection from Sharp’s decanting room, bottled ales, and even some which have been discontinued.
Sarah Hargreaves, of Sharp’s retail team, said: “We are so excited to offer these tours and tasting sessions right here in Rock. I can assure that it is a fantastic experience, truly immersive, sensory and educational.
“The overall aim is for everyone to go away and be a Sharp’s Brewery brand ambassador — that’s our objective and why we are sharing our knowledge in this way.”
‘We want people to recognise that we create a diverse range of products’
She added: “We’re obviously incredibly proud to be the creators of the UK’s number 1 cask ale brand, but at the same time, we want people to recognise that we create a diverse range of products in addition to Doom Bar, including our exciting limited edition releases.
For those considering Christmas gifts already, we will also be offering gift vouchers for our tours — the absolute perfect gift for beer fans and aficionados from far and wide.”
• Those taking part will receive a 10% discount from the brewery shop afterwards, if they wish to purchase anything. All participants must be over 18. Booking is essential. No alcohol can be consumed prior to the tour. The tour is not currently suitable for wheelchairs or walking aids. The team requires that those taking part wear or bring long trousers for the tour —other safety equipment will be provided.
