Tomorrow (2nd June), St Austell Brewery’s brewing director Roger Ryman — who passed away last week after a battle with cancer — would have turned 53 years old.

To mark his birthday, and as a sign of respect, the brewery will be hosting two minutes of applause in remembrance.

Brewers and staff who are currently working on site in St Austell will begin to clap at 11am tomorrow morning. The applause will commence and finish with the sound of the brewery’s steam hooter (pictured below).

The applause will be streamed live on Facebook for Roger’s many friends and colleagues, across the industry, who would like to take part virtually.

St Austell Brewery would like to invite breweries, and friends and colleagues from across the beer world, to join them in paying tribute to Roger — “an exceptional brewing talent and wonderful friend who was taken far too soon”, said a brewery spokesperson.

The applause will be streamed, live, at 11am on Tuesday, 2nd June, at facebook.com/events/3569805696381745/
