Nirvana Brewery has teamed up with neighbour and soda producer Square Root for an alcohol-free beer collaboration this summer.
Teaming Nirvana’s expertise in no-alcohol brews and Square Root’s knowledge of using the best seasonal fruits, they have announced the launch of limited-edition Tayberry Sour.
Kettle-brewed using fresh tayberries sourced from Maynard’s Farm, in Sussex, where Square Root purchases fruit for several of its limited edition, seasonal sodas, the 0.5% ABV Tayberry Sour beer gives drinkers pleasant notes of sweet raspberry and blackberry, with a tart and refreshing finish. This unusual berry was chosen with a view to putting a new taste out to the market, while harnessing a familiar beer style.
Becky Kean, co-founder at Nirvana Brewery, said: “Summer has turned out to be very different for everyone this year, but now that the industry is beginning to re-open again, we’re seeing demand for tasty alcohol-free options rise as consumers are looking to enjoy the rest of their summer without the hangover.
“At 0.5%, the Tayberry Sour gives drinkers a delicious, refreshing beer, with the added element of feeling included with friends who may be drinking alcohol. With an alcohol-free beer in their hand, they can enjoy the moment with a fresh head — we want to show that alcohol-free options can be just as fun, flavoursome, and varied as their alcoholic counterparts.”
Robyn Simms, co-founder of Square Root, added: “As a non-drinker myself, I’m incredibly excited to collaborate with our neighbours, Nirvana, to make this complex and fruity alcohol-free beer — it’s exactly the kind of drink I crave on a hot summer’s day!
