Great Newsome Brewery has secured a deal with Tesco, following successful similar contracts with Asda and Waitrose.

Six of its most popular premium bottled beers — Sleck Dust, Frothingham Best, Pricky Back Otchan, Liquorice Lads Stout, Jem’s Stout and Cold Snap — will be on the supermarket giant’s shelves across the Humber region from this month.

The farm-based brewery, near Winestead, east of Hull, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year and is working on a substantial expansion of brewing capacity, with an extension on course to be completed in 2018.

Great Newsome beers have amassed a collection of World Beer Awards, Great Taste Awards and others since the brewery’s inception, including a World’s Best Beer gold award for its popular Frothingham Best bitter.

Director, Matthew Hodgson, said: “We have been working to get into Tesco for some time now and we are pleased to announce that all the hard work has paid off.

“Our brand and business has shown strong growth in a highly competitive sector and we have many loyal fans who will now have more opportunities to buy. We also believe that the Tesco business will boost brand awareness and open us up to a new audience of beer lovers.”

He added: “It is possible that we will be nationally listed in the future, although our intention at present is to ensure that we maintain our exceptionally high standards in both quality of product and service.”
