A light craft lager, Gen!us, has been launched, offering an option for those feeling guilty after an over-indulgent festive season.
With a hoppy, citrus taste, the beer is brewed with the finest pilsner malts and three hop varieties, yet each can is 3% ABV and only 72 calories.
Gen!us co-founder, Jason Clarke, said: “With traditional premium lagers around 130 calories per bottle, it would have been inconceivable to drink regularly if you wanted a change in lifestyle. However, the growing popularity of light lagers is changing attitudes. But what qualifies as ‘light’?
“Gen!us is 72kcal per 330ml. The likes of Bud Light and Coors Light are not so light by comparison, containing 96kcal and 102kcal respectively, and neither would claim to be craft beers.
“Gen!us is all about smart drinking and, until now, craft beers have been loaded with calories, and so a big diet no-no. If you’ve promised to shed some Christmas pounds but can’t face a tasteless dry January, Gen!us is the smart option. We’re looking forward to changing the way the nation drinks this year.”
