The Five Points Brewing Company has announced a new range of five-litre mini-casks, featuring two of its bitters.

Five Points Best (4.1% ABV) is the brewery’s flagship single-hopped best bitter, which has only been available in cask until now. Brewed with Fuggles hops from Hukins Hops in Kent, it’s refreshing and smooth, with notes of caramel and biscuit, and a lovely grassy, herbal freshness.

Five Points Ordinary (3.6% ABV), is a drinkable, balanced session bitter, brewed with British Goldings and Challenger hops. With floral, earthy notes and a touch of toffee-like sweetness from the crystal malt, the bitter was brewed in partnership with Brewgooder’s Global Gathering project — a collaborative campaign to support World Water Day. £1 from every mini cask sold will go towards the project.

Ed Mason, co-founder and managing director of Five Points Brewing Company, said: “We know that one of the things people are missing most at the moment is that draught beer experience. That’s why our head brewer, Greg Hobbs, and I have been experimenting with these new mini-casks the past few weeks (it’s a tough life!) and have now decided we’ve found the right product.

“As well as shipping cans of Five Points classics, like Pale, XPA and JUPA, to homes around the UK, we’re pleased that we can now get more of our range into the hands of beer lovers who are missing the experience of a great pint of cask ale down the pub.

“We’re starting with our flagship bitter Best and new collaboration brew Ordinary, both of which would’ve been cask-only beers available at pubs. We’ll see what the response is like before looking at releasing a few other styles in due course. Both beers are currently available for UK home delivery through our webstore, and we’re hoping to add a click and collect service again before too long.”

The mini-casks join the Five Points core range in the brewery’s online shop. Another recent addition to the range is a collaboration with Five Points’ friends Turning Point Brew Co, the very limited-edition Known Unknowns Future Export Stout — a 6.8% ABV rich and roasty stout brewed to celebrate the Yorkshire brewery’s third anniversary.
