The Rising Sun, in Frampton Cottrell, has been named pub of the year by the Bristol and District branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). The Drapers Arms, in the city, was runner-up.

“This year, judges considered The Rising Sun to be a fantastic large community pub that has a lot to offer,” said branch chair Richard Brooks.

“Not least that it also has some very reasonable prices and so provides good value for money in these trying financial times.

“As The Drapers Arms is a micropub, its offering is obviously more limited, but despite its small size it was able to secure the runner-up position. Congratulations to both pubs!”

The Rising Sun is attached to the Hop Union Brewery, itself a multiple award winner.
