Lost and Grounded have launched Together Sounds Better, a 3.2% ABV blackcurrant Berliner-style weisse, brewed with and for the women who make the beer industry special.

Lost Grounded Together

Since 2014, International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day (IWCBD) has been an opportunity to bring women from all corners of the beer and hospitality industry together to create delicious brews, with the goal of uniting women and raising money for women’s causes.

Once a female-dominated profession, women now represent roughly 30% of those employed in the beer industry, with only 3% being brewers.

Lost and Grounded wanted to celebrate the women who pour their beer every day and do it despite frequent challenges and stigma. So, this year they threw open the doors of their brewery and welcomed an amazing group of women who love and work in the beer and hospitality industry to prove one thing — women belong in beer!

“It was such a huge opportunity to meet with our peers and discuss our issues and achievements,” said Annie Clements, co-founder of Lost and Grounded.

“We continue to strive for a more inclusive world, and not only champion women in our workplace, but highlight atrocities against women across the globe.”

‘When women support other women, incredible things happen’

Annie is proud to be in a position to highlight the challenges facing women in the industry, and champion a new generation of brewsters. “Hey! Jane Austen brewed beer when she wasn’t busy writing novels!” she says

“Fast forward to the present and we have a new revolution of women making some serious waves throughout the brewing world. Over the past decade, there’s been a steady increase in the number of women working in brewing.

“I’m certainly excited to be right here, right now, working amongst incredibly talented women across varying roles locally, nationally to globally.”

Ten pence from the sale of each can of Together Sounds Better will be donated to Womankind, a Bristol-based charity that offers counselling, helpline support, and befriending schemes for women.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the incredible women from Womankind Bristol for joining us on our brew day, and to Kyra for speaking to our community about their commitment to equality and inclusion for women,” said Annie.

“They help hundreds of women every year to improve their mental health and wellbeing so they can experience a better quality of life.”

Summing up the day, Annie is pragmatic about the enormity of the challenge ahead, but offers these words of optimism: “Although significant barriers to gender equality remain, when women support other women, incredible things happen.”

Together Sounds Better is pouring in the Lost and Grounded taproom today, and will be available in other venues from Monday (10th March).
