The tenants at The Fleece Inn, in Haworth, and the Dog & Gun, in Oxenhope — both Timothy Taylor’s pubs — are each celebrating major milestones.

Mick and Kath Roper took over the Dog & Gun pub in 1994. Since then, they have worked hard to see it go from strength to strength, assisted by daughter Jodie and son-in-law Ian.

“After our grandchildren were born, Jodie and Ian stopped for lunch at the pub instead of going straight home from the hospital, so it has been such a hub for our family life,” said Mick and Kath.

“Now our grandchildren have got a bit older, we have three generations working here at the Dog & Gun.”

Trudy Pilmoor runs The Fleece Inn, a cosy, Yorkshire pub with traditional stone-flagged floors, situated on Haworth’s famous cobbled main street. Trudy started her career with Timothy Taylor’s by working with them at the Albert Hotel, in Keighley. She is now celebrating her 25th year with the brewery and is looking forward to many more.

She said: “I started off managing the Albert Hotel, then moved to The Woolly Sheep Inn in Skipton, the Royal Oak in Ripon, the White Swan at Fence, and finally became a tenant at The Fleece Inn in Haworth, only three miles from where I started at the Albert. It has been a great adventure.”

Paul Turner, estate operations director at Timothy Taylor’s, said: “In our 17 tenanted pubs, while our partners, the tenants, operate independently trading businesses, we support them fully as part of our ownership responsibilities. We take pride in treating them as part of the family.

“At Timothy Taylor’s we state our philosophy very clearly: We recognise that by working with stakeholders that share our passion for quality and our commitment to the values of honesty, integrity, respectfulness and fairness we are most likely to succeed as a sustainable, family-owned and profitable business over the long term.

“Heartfelt congratulations to Mick, Kath, and Trudy on celebrating their impressive milestones. We look forward to working alongside them, and our other tenants, for many more years to come.”
