Concern is being expressed over the future of the Community Ownership Fund, a project which was established by the previous government.
The management board of The Miners Arms Community Pub Ltd
The fund was created to allow community groups to bid for funding to help purchase and operate community assets.
However, since Labour has come into power there has been no word on the future of the fund, despite repeated enquiries from interested parties and the Plunkett Foundation.
One of the group affected is The Miners Arms Community Pub Ltd, formed to buy a Nenthead venue as a community-owned and run pub.
Residents of Nenthead came together and formed a community benefit society. More than 240 people have bought shares in MACPL.
“We do not ave time, we need to know what is happening,” said Simon Walker, chair of MACPL. “It is time to do something. Continuing to do nothing is not an option; assets will be lost.”
