Angus, who performs as The Wave Machine, regularly entertains audiences across Cornwall with surf-and sea-inspired songs.
The Wave Machine also enjoys a significant global audience, with many of his songs featured on surf-themed Spotify playlists. One particular song, Ocean’s Brew, has just hit more than 1 million streams.
Mike, former head brewer at The Driftwood Spars Brewery, in St Agnes, and Brewhouse & Kitchen, in Lichfield, now runs Mason Brewing Co, on the Threemilestone Industrial Estate, Truro.
His goal goal is to revive the public’s appreciation for classic British beers while highlighting modern pale ales, stouts, and various other styles.
After The Wave Machine blew the audience away with a performance at one of the brewery’s Tap Room Sessions, Mike and Angus got talking about a collaboration to create a beer.
“It’s been fantastic to see the reaction to my music across the globe this past couple of years, and Ocean’s Brew has been leading the charge on streams,” said Angus.
“My music is inspired by all things of the ocean. It’s a chilled-out surf vibe, and I feel it is best enjoyed with a cold beer in your hand. I was, therefore, stoked to meet Mike and collaborate on this exciting project to bring Ocean’s Brew not only to your ears but to your tastebuds as well.”
Mike added: “Collaborating with local artist Angus to bring a new, yet classic beer, to a Cornish audience is brilliant. We wanted the beer to give a nod to the ocean and the song, and it’s inspired me to use my creativity as a brewer to produce Ocean’s Brew.
“It’s a hazy pale ale with notes of sea salt and Lime, the perfect accompaniment to listening to Angus’ music.”
Ocean’s Brew will be launching at The Mason Brewing Co Taproom on 5th October, with a special live set from “he Wave Machine. The beer will roll out at other Cornish venues in the following weeks.
