Timothy Taylor’s is giving its support to the Haworth Hobble and Yorkshireman Fell Races in its heartland with a sponsorship package including drinks and prizes.
The Haworth Hobble started as a long-distance walking race in 1980, but quickly expanded into a fell running event during the marathon running boom of the 1980s. It is a 32-mile traverse of the moors between Haworth, Burnley, Todmorden, and Hebden Bridge, with about 5,500ft of ascent. The 44th running of the event will take place in March.
The Yorkshireman Off Road Marathon and Half Marathon is 31 years old this year. The event traverses Brontë countryside, taking in remote spots around moors. It sells out every year and there are only a few places remaining for the September event.
Both events are organised by Keighley and Craven Athletics Club, who welcome all new members, whether you are a novice or experienced runner.
With Timothy Taylor’s as a new partner sponsor, the races hope to provide participants with beery goodies at the finish line, plus branded merchandise. The races will also offer competitions to their runners, with prizes including brewery tours, and stays at The Fleece Inn pub in Haworth, which has been a supporter of the races for many years.
“We have a long history of supporting sports groups in our community, from the Craven Cricket League to local football and rugby teams,” said Scott Cameron, senior brand manager at Timothy Taylor’s.
“When Gary, Simon, and Peter got in touch about the Haworth Hobble and Yorkshireman, how could we say no? Fantastic races that embody the true uncompromising nature of the Yorkshire spirit, something we are both proud to share.
“We hope that all the competitors are excited about the collaboration, and rest assured The Fleece Inn will be ready and waiting for post-race refreshments.”
Gary Chapman, race director and organiser, said: “Our races start outside the famous Fleece Inn, Haworth, and it would be fair to say that a few hard-earned pints of Landlord back at the Fleece are always high on the agenda for many fell runners straight after the race.
“It seemed like the perfect match to team up with Timothy Taylor’s, as we are both proud to represent the very best of our local area to a far wider audience.”
