The Euros football tournament is back and with it Hogs Back Brewery’s promise of a free pint for drinkers in its Tap if England reach the finals.
The brewer has made the same pledge over several recent football tournaments, and honoured it for the first time in 2021 when the English team made it to the final.
A 4% ABV golden ale, Three Hogs is brewed with a selection of English malts and hops, including Fuggles grown in the Hogs Back hop garden next to the brewery, as well as Cascade and Centennial.
The ale is described as “a beer of two halves: refreshingly hoppy up front, followed by a balancing bitterness and a hint of sweetness to finish”.
“Many Hogs Back drinkers look forward to the return of Three Hogs as an easy-drinking beer to enjoy while watching the football,” said Hogs Back managing director Rupert Thompson.
“We’ve already taken a number of bookings in the Tap and expect interest to grow as, hopefully, England progresses through the tournament.”
With some bookies now making England favourites to win, he added: “In terms of giving away beer, we’ve been watching the shortening odds on England lifting the trophy with a certain amount of concern.
“Even so, we’d love to see Southgate’s side reach another final and fill our Tap with supporters enjoying a pint of Three Hogs — win or lose!”
Hogs Back will be screening a number of matches in its Brewery Tap, including the tournament opener of Germany against Scotland on 14th June, three first-round matches in a row on 15th June, and England v Denmark on 20th June, the latter showing in the beer garden. If England progress through the group matches, more dates will be added.
Guests will be able to enjoy the football accompanied by a range of Hogs Back beers and food, including burgers and sharing plates. Bookings for places or tables are open here.
If England reach the finals, customers booked in to watch the match at the Tap will be able to claim their free pint of Three Hogs, or another Hogs Back beer, depending on availability.
