Nethergate Brewery says it is fusing tradition and innovation with the release of White Stout, a 4.5% ABV beer available in cask and bottle next month.

The brewery sees itself as guardian of a cherished British cask legacy — those deep, dark-roasted stouts, the timeless English bitters, and the mellow sessionable milds.
But it also sees itself in a world of innovation, where tastes change. And the new beer is an example of its ‘Traditionally Different’ approach.
White Stout defies convention, presenting the velvety, creamy textures traditionally associated with stouts, yet with a pale appearance. Enriched with the infusion of vanilla pods and cocoa nibs, there are also subtle hints of chocolate.
“It’s a pretty unique beer really,” said Ian Carson, head brewer at Nethergate. “It’s a beer type you don’t often see, and when you explain it to people, they’re like: ‘How’s that going to work?’
“Although there were some challenges during the brewing process, the end result is bang on — a beer with a rich, creamy, velvety flavour profile, but with a surprisingly light, golden colour. It really is something to behold! And who knows, it might encourage more drinkers to explore dark beers more often.”
