Suffolk’s St Peter’s Brewery has acquired Curious Brewery and, in turn, Wild Beer Co, which Curious bought out of administration, it is being reported.
St Peter’s Brewery was founded by John Murphy. He ran and developed it for 23 years before selling the business to group of investors in 2021.
That group are now acquiring the Curious Brewery, according to leisure and hospitality industry newsletter Propel.
Curious was established by the Chapel Down winery in 2011. It was sold to Luke Johnson’s private equity firm, Risk Capital Partners in 2021, at the same time as St Peter’s was changing hands.
The business has since been run by Mark Crowther, former chief executive of the Liberation Group. Simon George, former head of Budvar Budweiser in the UK, had been involved, too, as chairman and managing director, but left last summer.
The brands of Wild Beer Co were acquired out of administration in January this year.
