Sharp’s Brewery has added a new beer to its cask portfolio, Solar Wave — the first nationally available beer from Sharp’s to be brewed ‘hazy’.
At 4.6% ABV, Solar Wave is a vibrant, golden, juicy cask beer, brewed to hit the sweet spot between fruitiness and hop bitterness. It has a lower fizz and a distinctive golden haze.
It is brewed with speciality ingredients, including oats for a creamy mouthfeel and Cryo hops for a distinctive zesty and zingy flavour. Solar Wave, released on 3rd April, is also easier for publicans to handle, as it requires no settling time in the cellar.
“Solar Wave is a bold and revolutionary new beer for us at Sharp’s, and it’s been a really exciting time, developing our first ever hazy brew for national distribution,” said Sharp’s head brewer, Aaron McClure.
“We have used New World hops from some of the most modern and cutting-edge suppliers to produce a product with a wonderfully tropical aroma.
“This naturally hazy cask beer is very different from our usual ‘pin sharp’ clear beers, so has been a really interesting innovation for the team to work on. Everyone at the brewery is incredibly proud of the flavour and quality of this beer, and we can’t wait to see the reaction in Cornwall and beyond.”
Sharp’s marketing controller, James Nicholls, said: “Being based just a mile from the Atlantic Ocean, the elements help shape all the beers and brands that are born out of our brewery. In Solar Wave, it’s the sun, the sea, and the incredible ways they interact which has inspired our newest, and very exciting, brand.
“Golden beers and IPAs are currently growing in popularity in the cask sector, so it’s the right time for this contemporary beer style to join our portfolio of award winning beers.
“We’ve already been on an awesome journey with the development of this beer, and now we are thrilled to be able to bring this uniquely distinctive, disruptive, and possibly quite unexpected new hazy IPA to beer drinkers across the country.”
