Sandford Orchards has launched Devon Rosé Cider, a medium sweet blush cider, made from English apples and the skins of Pinot Noir red wine grapes.
The 4% ABV cider will be available next month in 500ml bottles, as well as selected retail outlets, pubs, and hospitality venues.
“As cider evangelists, we love nothing more than creating a new cider guaranteed to entice more people to become fans of this fabulous apple nectar,” said Barny Butterfield, chief cidermaker at Sandford Orchards. We’re confident that Devon Rosé Cider is one of those drinks.
“Lovingly produced here in Devon, from locally grown apples, we’ve fermented the cider with the skins of Pinot Noir grapes to give it a delicate pink hue and a fruity kick.”
Bursting with the fruitiness of Pinot Noir red wine grapes, it is a medium sweet cider made from Browns, Katja, and Jane apple varieties. These are fermented with grape skins to give the cider a depth of flavour and a blush colouring. It can be enjoyed on its own or as the ideal accompaniment for a goat cheese tart or Devon high tea, the cidermaker suggests.
