Liverpool bar restaurant Albert’s Schenke has opened a sister venue on Bold Street. And Albert’s Schloss has partnered with local independent Neptune Brewery to create a bespoke pale ale.
Mersey Pale (4% ABV) is brewed with US Cascade and Centennial hops. It packs a refreshing citrus punch, with light biscuity notes, and a pleasing bitter finish.
Neptune was named Merseyside brewery of the year 2020 by ratebeer.com and has just completed a brewery move and expansion due to the increasing popularity of its beers.
Albert’s Schenke has been serving Neptune beers since the bar’s opening, back in the summer of 2019. The businesses have collaborated on events such as tap takeovers, and members of the bar’s team have regularly taken part in Neptune’s yearly International Women’s Day celebratory brew day.
Neptune’s sales and beer experience manager, Chess Slattery, said: “It’s well-known that the venues in the Albert’s Schloss and Schenke family have a love for serving top-notch beers, which is a dream for breweries like us who are always keen to partner with places who share that passion for showcasing the best of brewing and serving it with care.
“You think of a visit to Albert’s Schloss and Schenke and you can’t help but embrace the fun-filled and open, welcoming atmosphere. It was crucial that Mersey Pale reflected this, which is why we focused on an accessible strength that still packs a delicious punch with a refreshing and vibrant character.”
Andrew Chesworth-Wigger, general manager of Albert’s Schloss and Schenke, said: “When we agreed to open Albert’s Schloss in Liverpool we were committed to working with local suppliers. Part of this exciting journey included speaking to long-term partners Neptune Brewery, who we knew shared many of our values.
“The brewery team was keen to have us involved in brewing the beer with them, which was fantastic. We will be proudly serving Mersey Pale at all times, alongside some of the other best beers in the world at our new palace on Bold Street.”
