The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is preparing to launch a special 50th anniversary edition of its Good Beer Guide.

CAMRA says it has made this new guide more user friendly and accessible. It features regional enties introduced by Laura Hadland, responsible for 50 Years of CAMRA, published last year. The book also brings together pub and brewery information for the first time.
To further mark the anniversary, CAMRA has commissioned artist Neil Gower to create an eye-catching cover design. Neil is well-known for his work on the covers for Bill Bryson’s travel series and William Golding’s Lord of the Flies.
He said that something he had thought of trying out was to give the impression of an elaborate colourful mosaic. “This provides a good combination of a jewel-like, crafted quality, while still having plenty of punch. It is the sense of ‘craftsmanship’ that should glow from it.”
The book is available to order here. There is a standard edition and a special hardback collector’s edition, individually numbered, with gold foiling and a gold ribbon bookmark.
