Adnams Broadside was launched in 1972 to mark the tercentenary of the Battle of Sole Bay, and has now sailed to its 50th anniversary.

Adnams Broadside 50

A showcase for chocolate malt, First Gold hops, and the unique contribution of Adnams yeast, it was an instant hit. Fifty years on, it has a faithful following that continues to grow. An early brand ambassador for Adnams’ coastal connection, its design reflects its profile.

Ruby red in colour, Broadside has the aroma and flavour of fruitcake. There is a warming, mouth-coating richness of conserved fruit. Coing in at 4.7% ABV on draught, the bottled version is a hearty 6.3%.

Broadside’s prominent characteristics have found their way into more than just beer. They have battled with marmalade, taken on Christmas pudding, and even survived distillation.

“Broadside’s enviable longevity is thanks to its devotees, and the efforts of the brewing team in maintaining its quality over the years.,” says the brewer. “We salute you all. It is always a favourite at the team’s daily tasting. The panel insists on a sample on Fridays, so they end things on a high.”
