St Austell Brewery has turned back the pages of its brewing journals to recreate a special beer for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The brewer’s Coronation Ale recipe from 1952, of which there is still a bottle in its museum, provides the foundation for Platinum Jubilee Ale. It’s a 7% ABV brew that celebrates all things traditional.
Cornish spring water, traditional heritage barley malts, and brewing sugar combine with Fuggles and East Kent Goldings hops for a quintessentially British beer.
Fermented with the St Austell house yeast strain, Platinum Jubilee Commemorative Ale produces aromas of fruity esters, barley wine, and hints of spice, with a full palate, candy sugar and a rich, sweetness to finish.
