SALT Beer Factory is launching its sixth branded Tap with a Craft + Falafel concept in central Leeds.

SALT brewery

The newly refurbished site (previously Craft Asylum) pairs award-winning craft beer with middle-eastern street food.

This will be the second SALT Tap in Leeds following SALT Craft + Cocktails. This latest venture offers a change of pace, with the picturesque water setting of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal providing the perfect backdrop.

If the promise of falafel and SALTs award-winning brews isn’t tempting enough already, there will also be seven cocktails ‘on tap’.

Situated in the modern development of Granary Wharf, the area features a vibrant selection of bars, restaurants, a contemporary hotel, residential buildings, and open spaces with scenic views.

Having proved the success of pairing street food with craft beer through its 2 Craft + Pizza (London) and Craft + Bao (Sheffield) concepts, this latest SALT Tap explores the tastes of the middle east, partnering with the Falafel Guys.

Famed for their delicious Middle-Eastern street food, originating from their bright red food van on Briggate, Falafel Guys have become a staple of Leeds’s street food culture. Whether it be fresh falafel cooked in front of your eyes, chunky grilled halloumi, or slow oven-cooked chicken, the food is a great craft beer match.

Something for everyone

SALT founder, Jamie Lawson, said: “We wanted to extend our presence in Leeds whilst still offering something different. We were blown away by the reception to SALT Leeds Craft + Cocktails and we wanted to offer a little bit of diversity in a fast-growing area of the city centre.

“SALT Craft + Falafel is inspired by our love for food and venues that offer something for everyone. Craft beer and street food is such a natural pairing and adds to our pursuit of ‘beer perfection’.”

Falafel Guys co-owner, Abdalla Ramzy, said: “We are always actively looking to expand, and when the opportunity with SALT came up we had to go for it. We are super excited to be opening another location and joining SALT.

“The team here is incredible and SALT is a great place. We’ve been planning our next move for some time now. As a company, we believe that SALT is the right place for Falafel Guy’s next home.”

His fellow co-founder, Ahmed Ramzy, added: “SALT and the area is very lively, and we’ve been doing our research into locations where there is a gap in the market for tasty fresh falafels. Middle Eastern food is extremely popular and what differs us from other places is that we use top-quality freshest ingredients, and everything on the menu is halal. We can’t wait to meet and welcome our new and regular customers.”
