Ye Olde Fighting Cocks in St Albans, reputedly England’s oldest pub, has closed after the licensee’s business went into adminstration.

The premises is owned by pub company Mitchells & Butlers, which will now seek to find a new tenant.
Landlord Christo Tofalli blamed the closure on challening business conditions in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He told the BBC: “We are all looking for the best way forward for the pub but it will reopen with new owners and I hope they will keep a bit of the soul and spirit going.”
