Monster, known for its energy drinks range, has announced a $330m deal to acquire CANarchy Craft Brewery Collective LLC in the US.
The deal will give Monster control of the Cigar City, Oskar Blues, Deep Ellum, Perrin Brewing, Squatters, and Wasatch craft beer brands.
Hilton Schlosberg, co-CEO of Monster, whose biggest shareholder is Coca Cola, said: “The acquisition will provide us with a fully in-place infrastructure, including people, distribution, and licenses, along with alcoholic beverage development expertise and manufacturing capabilities in this industry.”
CANarchy supplies beer throughout 21 countries, icludingthe US, and has some 900 employees in seven locations.
The Brewers Association is reported as saying that the individual breweries withinCANarchy will all retain ‘independent’ and ‘craft’ designations.
