Sharp’s Brewery’s Atlantic has been named a gold medal winner in the international cask category at the International Brewing and Cider Awards. There was also a bronze medal for Atlantic in bottle in the international small pack ale category.
A total of 138 medal and trophy winners were announced at the competition, which took place in November at the National Brewery Centre in Burton-upon-Trent.
Sharp’s Brewery’s head brewer, Aaron McClure, said: “I am so delighted that we have taken home two awards at the prestigious International Brewing Awards. We’ve had lots of success with awards this year, but the International Brewing Awards are the cream of the crop.
“One of the oldest running brewing competitions in the world, it features very few categories but does capture cask ale, which most awards do not. It is truly wonderful to be recognised for our cask beer by such an esteemed body.”
Aaron added: “In addition, it is judged solely by professional brewers and operates on an ‘invite only’ basis. Only three medals (gold, silver, bronze) are awarded per category, so we feel very privileged. We really look forward to collecting our medals at the awards luncheon next year.”
Ruth Evans MBE, director of the International Brewing and Cider Awards, said: “I’d like to personally thank all the judges, as well as all the brewers and cider-makers who entered their products and made this year’s awards one to remember. And we’re delighted to reward the best of them with the recognition they so truly deserve.
“We’d like to congratulate Sharp’s Brewery on their achievements at this year’s awards, and we’re thrilled to be able to provide them with the recognition they so truly deserve.”
