Shepherd Neame is offering a lucky rambler the chance to immortalise their favourite route in its popular Pub Walks series.

The brewery, which has 320 pubs in the South East, has launched a competition to find its latest pub walk. Routes must start and end at a Shepherd Neame pub, and be no more than six miles in length.

The chosen route will be the sixth trail in the Pub Walks series, which was launched last February. Shepherd Neame partnered with local expert Lisa Filmer, founder of Coast and Country Rambles, to create five guides detailing walks taking in some of Kent’s most beautiful coast and countryside.

They all start and finish at a Shepherd Neame pub: The Minnis Bay Bar and Brasserie, near Birchington; The Carpenters Arms, in Eastling; the White Horse Inn, in Boughton-under-Blean; The White Lion, in Selling; and the New Flying Horse in Wye.

Shepherd Neame’s head of marketing, brands, and communication, Joanna Richardson, said: “When we launched our series of pub walks last February, we had no idea that walking would become such an integral part of many people’s lives due to the events of the past 12 months.

“With the end to lockdown now in sight, we thought it would be the perfect time to launch a new guide, as walkers will soon be able to actually stop off for a drink and food at our pubs when they start reopening on 12th April.

“We know that there are lots of people with amazing knowledge of their local areas, and we want them to get in touch with their ideas for a fantastic walk that can be enjoyed by individuals, families and friends of all ages.”

Competition details

Entrants need to email their suggested route, noting any significant landmarks found along the way, to competitions@shepherdneame.co.uk before 12th April. Pictures to illustrate the walk will also be welcomed.

One winner, selected by a panel of judges, including Lisa Filmer, will have their route professionally mapped and incorporated into a guide, which will be printed and distributed to the relevant pubs and available to download online.

The winner will also be invited to co-host a launch event for the new guide, and will receive an overnight stay for two at one of Shepherd Neame’s hotels/inns.
