Westerham Brewery has announced the launch of its latest keg and can special, Nova Anglia New England IPA.

The launch event will take place tomorrow (March 29) between 10am and 9:30pm at the brewery taproom on Beggars Lane, Westerham, and will feature a special guest — a 1960 Ford Anglia. The car was used to model the flying car used in the Harry Potter film franchise. There will also be wood-fired pizzas by Pizza Federicci from noon until 8:30pm.

The beer was brewed by the founder and head brewer at Westerham Brewery, Robert Wicks, in collaboration withformer Fuller’s head brewer, John Keeling. The name Nova Anglia was chosen to reflect the style of beer being brewed — a New England IPA. This modern style of craft beer provided a perfect platform for a collaboration with Keeling.

The Ford Anglia is a perfect blend of American car manufacturing and English design, and couples perfectly with the Nova Anglia New England IPA. With tropical fruit on the nose and a silky body, the Nova Anglia NEIPA is dangerously drinkable for a 5.9% beer.

Inspired by Fuller’s

Wicks said: “We really admire what John has done for the brewing industry and what he achieved at Fuller’s. With so many British and American brewers inspired by drinking Fuller’s cask ales, we thought it a fitting tribute to brew a new American style of beer with John. We hope you enjoy the fruits of our labours!”

Wicks founded Westerham Brewery in 2004 after a career in finance. Brewing traditional English ales as well as modern styles, this year Westerham Brewery celebrates its 15th anniversary with a series of special releases and events.

John Keeling has worked at Fuller’s for 37 years, most recently as brewing director (1999 to 2017). He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018 by the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) for his contribution to the beer industry. Fuller’s has won many medals for its beer during his time as a brewer, including the CAMRA beer of the year and gold medals at the Beer World Cup. He has been instrumental in supporting the craft beer movement and is the inspiration for many of today’s young brewers.
