West Country-based Wild Beer Co has been named best drinks producer at the prestigious BBC Food and Farming Awards.
They fought off stiff competition from Oliver’s Cider and artisan spirits maker The Asterly Bros to take the title. The category seeks to reward those who display exceptional provenance and demonstrate excellence and originality in their production methods, as well as supporting the rural economy.
A Wild Beer Co spokesperson said: “After a year that has seen us successfully crowdfund £1.9m towards our new brewery facility via the Crowdcube platform, increase export to 28 countries, launch our sleeping Lemons Gin, and the continued roll-out of new and exciting beers that challenge the taste and perception in be, this is somewhat the feather in the cap!
“We are incredibly proud of this achievement and feel honoured to take our place amidst the other winners who all provided stories of excellence and inspiration. We salute you all.”
