Young’s has acquired the freehold of the Chequers Inn at Hanham Mills, Bristol, through leisure property specialists Fleurets, in an off-market transaction.
The Chequers is well known throughout the area, given its envious position overlooking the River Avon, which is an extremely popular waterway with boats, walkers and visitors to the area.
Having been extensively refurbished by the previous owners, The Chequers offers 140 internal covers and 120 external covers on the riverbank. There is the added benefit of a large car park.
Young’s continues to expand within the area, following its recent acquisition of the Riverstation, in Bristol city centre. Acquisitions manager, Brendan Brammer, said: “The Chequers is an exceptional waterside public house, which is an ideal addition to the Young’s estate, as we look to expand further in the region.”
The confidential sale was handled by Kevin Conibear, head of retail leisure and restaurants at Fleurets. He said: “The Chequers is established as an extremely popular riverside public house, given its picturesque setting and high-quality accommodation, attracting custom from throughout Bristol and further afield. The availability of businesses of this calibre is rare and we are delighted to have completed a sale to Young’s.”
