Castle Rock Brewery has confirmed it is moving to an historic brewing premises in Old Basford, Nottingham, formerly the base of brewery supplies specialist Murphy & Son.

The building was constructed in 1891 for the Prince of Wales Brewery and was a working brewery until the early 20th century. The move will take place next year.
“We are so excited to not only continue our journey as a brewery at this historic site, but also to return the site to its original purpose over a century later,” said Castle Rock.
“This exciting news has come just before we begin to embark upon our 50th year as a pub group and 30th year as a brewery, and we are busy preparing to make 2027 Castle Rock’s best year yet.
“To celebrate these milestones, we’re putting together several opportunities for our loyal supporters, new and old, to join us in celebrating the next 50 years. These plans include hosting events in our pubs, special beers, and much more.”
To mark the anniversaries, Castle Rock is launching a campaign called Remember When. “We all have our favourite memories of a Castle Rock pub, whether they’re full of laughter, tears, or both, they all started with a pint,” said the company. “Across 2027, we want to fill our pubs, socials, and website with stories of what Castle Rock means to you.” Memories can be submitted here.
