Showerings is at the forefront of a shift in consumer behaviour that is reshaping the cider category, it says.

Premium and craft apple ciders, particularly those with strong provenance and heritage, are emerging as the category’s key area of growth.

Traditionally reserved for restaurants, specialist retailers, and fine dining settings, fine cider is now gaining broader recognition among consumers seeking elevated drinking experiences.

Produced in Somerset by the Showering family, who have been making cider for more than 180 years, it is one of the few ciders in the UK crafted using a triple vintage blend. Made predominantly from late-season Dabinett apples grown in a single award-winning orchard, it is an expression of Somerset’s terroir and the family’s generational expertise.

The cider has already built a strong following among leading chefs, sommeliers, and hospitality professionals, with listings in some of the UK’s most acclaimed Michelin star restaurants, including Core by Clare Smyth, L’Enclume by Simon Rogan, and The Waterside Inn. Its move into Tesco represents a natural next step in making fine cider more widely available.

“This is a significant moment not just for our brand, but for the fine cider category as a whole,” said Nick Showering, director of the cider producer.

“Our mission has always been to elevate the perception of cider and showcase it as a product of true craftsmanship and quality. This partnership with Tesco shows that momentum is building, and that fine cider is becoming the drink of choice for many consumers.”
