Cornish brewers Bluntrock and Braslou Bier, of Rock and St Issey respectively, have collaborated on Fresh Hop Lager (4.6% ABV).

Buntrock Braslou

The beer follows a recipe created by Tommy Barnes, founder of Braslou Biere, for his Saffron Helles — but without the saffron.

Ripe, fresh Cascade hops were used, grown by local man Kevin Frances, in Wadebridge. The beer is “beautifully refreshing, and light golden in colour”, say the brewers. It has light citrus and grassy notes.

The hop bines were cut at around 8am on the brew day, and the cones were picked and into the beer by 11.30am. Two weeks later, and the first pints are being poured.
