Dalston, London’s 40ft Brewery have announced their first crowdfunding campaign as they continue celebrating their tenth anniversary.

The existing 40ft Brewery taproom
Having recently become B Corp certified, recognising the brand’s high standards of social and environmental practices, transparency and accountability, big plans are afoot.
The summer will see 40ft expand with a new brewery and taproom on London’s famous beer trail, Blackhorse Beer Mile.
A more grown-up version of the Dalston taproom, the plan is to offer a space that truly services the local community. There will be fun daytime events for children and their parents, a dog park, fully hireable spaces for big events and parties, food pop-ups, and weddings.
Meanwhile, back in Hackney, 40ft will be taking over the legendary Dalston RoofPark — a particularly poignant move, it being where the first ever 40ft pint was poured back in 2015. The reimagined Dalston RoofTop will return to its roots as a community hub, hosting cultural events, and being a chilled space to watch the sun go down.
Over the past decade, 40ft Brewery has become known as a leading force in the East London community. It started with three friends in a Hackney houseshare brewing for their legendary house parties.
40ft opened the UK’s first shipping container brewery in 2015, in a Dalston car park, and quickly established itself at the beating heart of thelocal hospitality scene. It remains as fiercely independent as it was back in the day.

Brewery founder Steve Ryan
The crowdfunding campaign has been curated to reflect the brand’s community spirit and to reward backers with a range of incentives to be enjoyed at one of the brand’s ventures. Uniquely, backers can exchange their investment for double money drinks credit at all venues. There is also a range of one-off rewards, be it an invitation to an exclusive launch party, lifetime discounts, or even a private party for 200 people with drinks thrown in.
“Unlike equity crowdfunds, this campaign gives you an immediate return on your investment, especially at a time when money is tight,” said founder Steve Ryan. “The brewery is growing up, just as we are.
“Dalston is where I met my wife, and the Walthamstow taproom is where we’ll bring our family. Both spaces will serve different needs of the community. We’re crowdfunding to help raise awareness of our new venues and offer our guests an immediate return on their investment, by stretching their money across multiple visits and venues.”
In-keeping with the evolution of the London brewery scene, May 2025 saw a rebrand of 40ft Brewery. Two of its signature brew, — Disco Pils and Dalston Sunrise — now have a lower ABV to reflect consumer drinking habits. A new core range includes Main Squeeze, a hazy IPA, Rewind, a West Coast IPA, and Deep, a long-standing 40ft dry Irish stout, now poured on nitro.
