It’s Coeliac Awareness Month, marking five years since Finchampstead’s Siren Craft Brew started brewing gluten-free beer as part of its core range.

Siren Lumina

Getting together for a beer, with mates, with loved ones, is an essential part of the craft beer experience. More flavours, styles, and quality make it a truly inclusive experience, whether you are at home, enjoying a tapyard, or relaxing at a festival. To be truly inclusive, that means having something for everyone.

Lumina, at 4.2% ABV, is a straight-up thirst quencher, easy drinking and full of hops, and with no compromise on flavour. Siren at its core.

As awareness of coeliac disease rises, so does the importance of producing products that can be enjoyed by everyone.

Siren’s latest offering takes that message to another level. Show Your Stripes is a gluten-free pilsner produced to support the University of Reading’s global warming campaign. It is available exclusively on keg on the university bars, and in cans on the Siren webshop.

As part of their commitment to supporting Coeliac Awareness Month this year, Siren have crafted a set of favourite gluten-free beers locally and from across the country, all available through the Siren Craft Brew online shop.

What is coeliac disease, and how does it relate to a gluten-free diet?

Currently, in the UK, around 500,000 people are living with distressing symptoms that affect their everyday life. Simple activities like food shopping or grabbing a sandwich on the go become a daily chore when you can’t eat gluten.

And those important milestones, like holidays and family meals, can feel like a lottery with the worry of finding safe food
or being labelled fussy or a picky eater by those who assume gluten free is a fad and not a medical necessity.

Imagine struggling to find bread that won’t make you ill, or not being able to meet up with friends for a meal because the chosen venue doesn’t cater for people that can’t eat gluten. It’s an isolating experience and the community deserves a better deal.

That’s why Coeliac UK raises awareness about coeliac disease and gluten intolerance, campaigns to reduce the current average 13-year wait to get diagnosed, and works with the food industry for better and wider access to gluten-free food.

“Gone are the days when gluten free meant compromising on flavour,” says Andy Nowlan, marketing manager at Siren Craft Brew. “Our gluten-free beers are every bit as bold, refreshing, and satisfying as the rest of our range — in fact, our best-selling beer, Lumina Session IPA, is gluten free.

“We believe there’s a beer for everyone, so it’s essential that our line-up reflects diverse tastes, styles, and dietary needs. In 2025, the gluten-free beer scene is thriving — and that’s great news for coeliacs, the gluten-sensitive, or anyone simply looking to cut back.”

Siren gluten-free selection

Siren Craft Brew: Lumina (4.2% ABV), gluten-free session IPA
Lumina glows with juicy tropical fruit notes. Hoppy aromas of mango and pineapple guide you towards explosive flavour, flashes of delicate citrus highlights, and refreshing balanced bitterness. It drinks with a pillowy soft mouthfeel and pours with a beautiful light haze.

Siren Craft Brew: Show Your Strips (3.8% ABV), gluten-free pilsner
The official lager of Reading University, showcasing the Show Your Stipes weather and climate campaign. It’s a classic lager, turned gluten free, using traditional German hops for fruity and floral aromas, offsetting a lightly bready malt base.

Two Flints: Santiago (3.8% ABV), gluten-free pale ale
Two Flint’s flagship gluten-free pale ale, built on everything the brewery loves about modern beer. Refreshing, sessionable, and packed with juicy American hops. On top of a soft, pillowy base, they’ve hopped liberally with Citra, Mosaic, and Idaho 7 for bright notes of juicy peach, zesty orange, and fleshy mango, all tied together by a gentle citrusy bitter finish.

Arbor: Days Like This GF (4.7% ABV), gluten-free pale ale
A heavily-hopped gluten-free pale ale, brewed with Citra, Simcoe, and Azacca hops.

Arbor: Mosaic GF (4% ABV), gluten-free pale ale
A gluten-free pale ale with bold floral and tropical fruit flavours and aromas. In pint-size cans!

Left Handed Giant: Sky Above (4.5% ABV), gluten-free pale ale
Left Handed Giant’s house session pale is easy drinking and hop forward, featuring an Extra Pale malt base combined with Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic hops. A recipe that’s been with them from the very start. Layers of orange peel and juicy grapefruit, a smooth bitterness, and top notes of pine, refreshing apricot, and passion fruit. This is a perfectly balanced session beer.

Left Handed Giant: Twin Cities (5.2% ABV), gluten-free pale
For the latest iteration of Left Handed Giant’s multi-award-winning Twin Cities gluten-free pale range, they’ve paired Motueka with Mosaic, a combination that’s brimming with bright lime, floral hues, and pressed blueberry. All this sits atop an Extra Pale Maris Otter base, with a healthy dose of jumbo rolled oats, creating a light texture and smooth finish.

Fierce Beer: Fancy Juice (5% ABV), gluten-free hazy IPA
Hazy IPA with a bold mango and peach aroma, packed with ripe tropical and stonefruit flavours.

Fierce Beer: Hometown (4.2% ABV), Scottish lager
There’s a reason why golden lager is the world’s favourite beer style. Firece’s is light, toasty, and refreshing, with classic Tettnang hops, a touch of Vienna malt for flavour, and wheat for the perfect texture.
