Draught beer services company Avani Solutions is offering its WasteWatchers! training to a select number of UK community pubs for free.

Designed to reduce losses and improve profitability, the training has the potential to save a venue as much as £5,000 per year.
Community pubs — owned by and run for the local community — often play a vital role in their areas. They act as social hubs for residents by offering a meeting place and fostering social networks, as well as supporting local economies.
Data from CAMRA shows there are currently 217 community-owned pubs in the UK, and 78 active campaigns to establish new ones.
Earlier this year, backed by UKHospitality and the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII), Avani Solutions launched its WasteWatchers! campaign. This highlights that the UK hospitality industry is losing an estimated £212 million annually due to beer wastage.
Avani’s data showed that of the two billion pints poured annually in the UK, 43% is wasted, equating to 860 million pints per year.
Now, Avani is asking community pubs to apply to receive the free training by emailing caroline@avanisolutions.co.uk with the name and address of the pub and no more than 200 words explaining they believe WasteWatchers! can deliver the help they need. Submissions must be made before the end of June, with those successful being notified by the end of the first week of July.
A select number of venues will be selected to receive the training, which typically costs £295, on a bursary basis. Each venue will have the opportunity to involve their whole bars teams in the training, which would be carried out at their site.
