Shepherd Neame has added a 4% ABV keg stout to its portfolio, paying tribute to the brewery’s hometown of Faversham and its maritime heritage.

For centuries, Faversham Creek was a major trading hub and ship building centre, and Iron Wharf takes its name from the town’s historic Wharf.
Combining UK-sourced ale and brown malts with a sprinkling of roasted barley, to deliver hints of roasted and chocolate flavours, the dark has a ruby red tint and a well-balanced, smooth finish.
The logo for the brew takes its inspiration from the hull of the ships traditionally crafted in the Wharf, using a black and gold colour palette to reflect the premium quality of the beer. Branded glassware bears the tagline ‘Built Bold, Brewed True’.
“We are very proud to unveil Iron Wharf to our customers,” said Shepherd Neame chief executive Jonathan Neame. “We have seen a growing demand for stout among our drinkers, and it is important to us to ensure that our beer portfolio continues to evolve to cater for the latest tastes and trends.
“Our team have worked hard to perfect the recipe of this delicious new beer, and we are really pleased to honour the heritage of our hometown with its name and design.
“This is an exciting time for Shepherd Neame, as we continue to invest in refreshing and expanding our award-winning collection of beers, and it gives me great pleasure to see such an excellent stout joining our permanent range.”
Iron Wharf is the second new beer to join the brewer’s permanent range this year. First Drop (4.3% ABV), a session IPA, launched last month.
