Castle Brewery is celebrating its biggest achievement to date after winning two gold medals at the SIBA National Beer Awards, staged in Liverpool.

Castle Brewery owner Simon Court is presented with one of his two awards at SIBA’s BeerX event in Liverpool
This achievement was preceded by the introduction of Coldframe Brewery — a brand that separates Castle’s acclaimed continental-inspired beers from its traditional British ales.
Coldframe builds on the stylistic direction of this year’s national gold medal winning beers —New Season, a crisp, modern take on a Belgian pale, and Gorse, a mixed fermentation golden ale using locally-captured native yeasts.
New Season was awarded gold in the bottled/canned continental ale category. This is the second national gold medal for this beer. Gorse was awarded gold in the bottled/canned sour and wild ale class.
The new brand is a step towards modern farmhouse brewing, creating beers that are an authentic reflection of place. The beers use raw, locally-grown, single-origin barley, sourced directly from a small family farm a stone’s throw from the brewery. Coldframe will craft beers that are deeply connected to their environment.
“Coldframe Brewery is the natural evolution of everything we’ve been working towards,” said Simon Court, head brewer at and owner of Castle and Coldframe breweries. “Last week’s awards were an incredible honour and testament to our vision for the new brewery.
“Coldframe represents our deepening commitment to brewing beers that are shaped by the land, using raw and locally-sourced ingredients. Everything we are doing is another step closer to becoming the farmhouse brewery we have always aspired to be.”
