Bríd’s Cross Brewing joined with the Women of Whitworth charity to brew an International Women’s Day (IWD) beer, a 4% ABV pale called Pirate Queen.

The beer launched at The Baum, Rochdale, on International Women’s Day and didn’t hang around long. It sold out within eight hours of going on sale and was a huge hit with punters. A percentage of sales is being donated to Bríd’s Cross’s charity partners Women of Whitworth.
“We’re delighted to be supporting our local charity,” said Ruth Shedwick, of Bríd’s Cross Brewing. “It was really lovely to host seven local women for our second IWD brew day.
“From planning meetings to brew day, their interest and enthusiasm never waned, getting stuck in with all hands on deck to learning about the processes, it was an honour and a joy.”
The brewery teamed up with the organisers behind International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day who offered all participants a chance to gain a Level 1 in Beer qualification from WSET (the Wine & Spirit Education Trust).
Kimberley Ashworth, of Women of Whitworth, said: “Thank you so much to Bríd’s Cross Brewing for the opportunity to collaborate on Pirate Queen. It was fantastic to meet so many inspiring females, and we thoroughly enjoyed the day.”
