The historic Red Lion pub in Leystonstone, London, has re-opened following an extensive refurbishment by Urban Pubs & Bars.

Red Lion Leytonstone

Through the decades, it became an essential part of London’s music scene, hosting some of the world’s most iconic bands. The likes of Led Zeppelin, The Who, Genesis, Yes, and Roxy Music all played there in the 1970s.

As well as a spacious and relaxed main floor, The Red Lion features a stunning ballroom upstairs, which once hosted gigs of legendary music acts such as The Who and Led Zeppelin. With original chandeliers, a stage, a self-contained bar, sound system, and service kitchen, the ballroom is an ideal space for weddings and private celebrations for up to 300 guests.

Within the garden sits The Den, a contained outdoor area with garden bar, which has space for 60 people. The wider outdoor area of The Red Lion promises to be a sun trap featuring booth seating, live sports, and order-at-table technology, perfect for summer days.

As well as being the perfect spot for celebrations big and small, The Red Lion boasts 10 boutique hotel rooms. The rooms are ideal for guests attending a wedding or private function or simply visiting London for a stay.

Chris Hill, managing director of Urban Pubs & Bars, said: “We’re delighted to continue rolling out our vision for our new sites to help them achieve their potential. The Red Lion is an icon of East London with a rich history, and we’re excited for the pub’s new chapter.”

The Red Lion re-opens to the public on Friday (21st February).
