Throughout the evening, Sharp’s conducted one of their popular Silent Bistro sessions. This included interactive tutored tastings of small-plate Asian streetfood crafted by the team at Bango Kitchen, accompanied by carefully-matched Sharp’s beer and cider. Alongside the food and drink, funk and soul beats were brought by DJ Atomic Dog.
The food included dishes such as Mylor Scallipop with Thai kaffir lime fish ball and primrose herd kushiyaki, West Country Teriyaki flat iron steak, Loch Duart salmon tartar and 48-hour roast chicken and pork tonkotsu noodle broth.
Sharp’s provided bespoke beer and cider matches, comprising Offshore Pilsner, Twin Coast session pale ale, Chalky’s Bite Belgian-style pale ale and Sea Fury special ale, alongside a unique Sharp’s ‘hoptail’, the Doom Bar Daiquiri.
Bango Kitchen has a permanent presence at the Buttermarket. Its regular offering includes dumplings, ramen and much-loved bao buns, plus tasty specials curated from local produce. Sharp’s Cold River Cider, Offshore Pilsner, Doom Bar, and Atlantic Pale Ale are also available.

“We were absolutely thrilled to work with Howard and Nick, of Bango Kitchen, to bring this dynamic and fun evening to the awesome new Buttermarket venue in Redruth,” said Sam Lyne, beer sommelier at Sharp’s.
“We are on an ongoing mission at Sharp’s to educate and inspire both chefs and diners about the amazing pairings that can be had with beer and food, bringing people new knowledge about the passion, craftsmanship, and ingredients that go into every pint. Events like this offer the perfect opportunity for us to do just this in a really innovative way.”
For those who were unable to attend the unique event, the team at Sharp’s have recreated some simple ‘at home’ recipes with beer pairings. These can be viewed here.
Nick Archer, of Bango Kitchen, said: “We had a fantastic evening, with our friends at Sharp’s providing a whole evening of flavourful immersions for our shared guests. Our specially-created dishes were greatly received and perfectly paired with Sharp’s beers and ciders.
“It is a real joy to experience people enjoying different flavour combinations that they might not usually consider, and we hope to do more of these fun, collaborative events in the future.”
