It’s Burns Night this week, and to celebrate Newbarns Brewery has launched four beers created in collaboration with fellow Scottish breweries.
The beers
Berry Bogle (5.2% ABV, collaboration with Holy Goat)
A Berliner with strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants, and blackberries from Strathmore. Brewed using Bere barley and fermented with a blend of both breweries’ yeast cultures.
Seaweed Blanche (5% ABV, with Futtle)
A year after creating a seaweed lager with Futtle, the theme continues. Seaweed’s minerally notes come to the fore in this wit bier.
Oatmeal Stout (8% ABV, with Epochal)
It’s described simply as “rich, smooth, toasty, and grown up”.
North Boat (4.4% ABV, with Swannay)
A session IPA brewed with Bere barley, which gives a good volume of body to a lower-ABV beer. It has been hopped with Harlequin, Strata, and Nectaron.
