Vocation Brewery has revealed the latest additions to its barrel-aged programme, an imperial rye stout and a Baltic Porter.
These are small-batch, limited-edition releases, described by the brewer as bold, complex, dark beers.
The Imperial Rye Stout (13% ABV) has been infused with green cardamom pods and dried figs, before resting in white Moscatel and bourbon casks.
“Rich star anise, succulent fig, and vibrant cardamom spice flavours dominate the palate, with subtle vanilla and peach notes from the barrels,” says Vocation.
The second Baltic porter release from the barrel project comes in at 9.8% ABV. Aromas of oak and caramel lead, followed by dry tannins that permeate every sip. It’s intensely earthy in flavour, with rich redcurrants and delicate hints of roasted malts on the finish.
