In its 30th anniversary year, Sharp’s Brewery has introduced two innovative tasting experiences at the visitor centre on site at its base.

Sharp's Good Grain flights

For a new beer flight experience, the team has partnered with local Newquay-based woodwork company Good Grain Ltd, who also make the iconic Dick Pearce bellyboards.

Led by owner Jamie Johnstone, the Good Grain team have crafted a set of original, sustainably-sourced wooden beer ‘paddles’ onto which the Sharp’s team will place three glasses (equating to half-pint measures) of beer of cider for a new flight tasting experience.

Also new to the brewery site is the Secret Bar. This is a tiny, purpose-built ‘speakeasy’ that has appeared over the years at UK-wide events and converted legions of previously non-beer drinkers into fans via the unique Sharp’s beer and food pairing experience.

Exact details of the Secret Bar experience are kept under wraps, but visitors can expect to enjoy bite-sized taster dishes with impeccably matched beers, and a video insight into what happens behind the scenes at Sharp’s. All this while learning the history of beer, the best way to taste beer, and much more.

“We love hosting beer and cider drinkers here at the brewery, and people come from far and wide to see where their favourite brews are created,” said Sam Lyne, Sharp’s hospitality and retail manager.

“This is such an honour and we want to give these dedicated visitors an ultimate experience and vital insight into our products and what we do here day to day. This is why, in our 30th year, we have elevated the visitor experience on-site here in Rock by adding in these two new elements.

“So, if you are looking for something a little different to do in Cornwall, come and visit us and enjoy every drop.” Find out more on the Sharp’s website.
