Thornbridge Brewery has welcomed London’s The Kernel to Bakewell as it makes use of its Union Set of fermenters in a very appropriate manner.
The set, previously in Burton-on-Trent, was given to the Derbyshire brewer when Carlsberg Marston decided to stop using it earlier this year.
Now Thornbridge and The Kernel are recreating a collaboration they first brewed back in 2011 — Burton Ale.
“We first brewed our Burton Ale with The Kernel brewery back in the summer of 2011 (pictured), inspired by historical brewing recipes from the early 20th century,” says Thornbridge.
“This iteration, fermented on our union system, is malty, rich, and dark with a gentle balancing bitterness from the Golding hops.
“Roasted malts and special brewing sugars make our Burton Ale the perfect winter warmer.”
