Celeste Beatty, the first African American woman brewer to launch a commercially distributed craft beer, has brought Black Is Beautiful Vol 2 to the Harlem Brewing Taproom, Brixton.
One of the most significant social initiatives ever launched in the alcohol industry, the original Black Is Beautiful beer campaign was set up by Marcus Baskervilke, brewer and founder of Weathered Souls.
He created Volume 2 to support the National Black Brewers Association’s (NB2A) work in developing and growing black brewers globally. Every brewery participating, now including the Harlem Brewing Taproom, will pledge to donate $1 per beer sold to the NB2A.
Last month, Celeste announced a groundbreaking partnership with Brixton-based Supercute Brewery.
“Supercute is proud to be included in the brewing of Black is Beautiful Vol 2 as it sings a bittersweet melody of hope and harmony, a liquid ode to the dreams we dare to brew,” said Supercute founder Hammant Patel Villa.
“Each glass poured and savoured is a verse in our shared story of resilience and celebration.”
Look out soon, incidentally, for the Brixton Beer Weekender, taking place on 7th and 8th September.
The event will involve the Harlem Brewing Taproom, the Supercute Brewery Taproom, Brixton Brewery Taproom, Craft Metropolis Brixton, Ghost Whale, Craft Beer Co Brixton, and London Beer Lab.
