Local breweries Brick and Brew By Numbers are set to debut innovative new beers at London Craft Beer Festival, which takes place on 9th and 10th August, at Tobacco Dock.
Brick Brewery’s new kettle sours
Peckham-based Brick Brewery, known for its bold flavours and experimental approach, will launch two new sour brews.
Citrus Blast Kettle Sour (3.4% ABV) sees yuzu, mandarin ,and grapefruit come together for a sour citrus sensation. It is made with a house lactobacillus culture to give it Brick’s unique balanced sour taste.
The Raspberry and Basil Kettle Sour (3.3% ABV) uses sweet and tangy raspberries, which dance on the palate before basil notes jump in with grassy green menthol bitter notes.
Brew By Numbers will also unveil two new brews, a battle of the hemispheres. DDH IPA South (6.5% ABV) has some of the best examples of juicy antipodean hops, packed with Nelson Sauvin, Nectaron, and Galaxy, and showcasing Charles Faram’s new Quantum Series hops. Beer lovers can expect passionfruit, peach, and pineapple on a soft pillowy bed of beer.
DDH IPA North (6.5% ABV) takes inspiration from the US. Packed with Azacca, Chinook, and Simcoe, and again featuring showcasing Charles Faram’s Quantum Series hops, this is a tropical punch of mango and pineapple, backed up with a little resin and spice for good measure.
Sally Stewart, brand manager at Brick Brewery and Brew By Numbers, said: “A lot of hard work has gone into creating each new beer, which represents our commitment to pushing boundaries and delivering exceptional flavours. We’re confident festival goers will enjoy these new and innovative beers.”
Nominations for CAMRA’s Pub Saving Award are now open. Alongside the main award, there will be a new category of heritage award, to recognise the achievements of people that have revitalised a heritage pub in the last year. The award is open to all pubs on CAMRA’s National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors, whatever their grade. Success criteria isn’t only based on what’s been done to pub’s interior. Pubs can also win the award through the efforts of its management to run the pub enthusiastically, care for its heritage, and make a positive contribution to the local community.
Enter the Loop (6.5% ABV) is a new hazy IPA from Left Handed Giant, hopped with Nectaron, Strata, and Idaho 7. “Expect a light and creamy texture from this paired-back grist of super pale base malt, with a blend of jumbo and naked oats,” says the brewer. “Layered whirlpool additions and a fully-charged dry hop deliver structured bitterness and heady aromas, tropical and bright.” There are flavours of passionfruit, strawberries, and blackcurrant.
