The popular week-long event sees hundreds of acts performing in large and small indoor and outdoor venues.

These include Oysterband, Tim Edney, Jez Lowe, Tin Giants Richard Digance, Banter, Daphne’s Flight, and Kathryn Tickell and the Darkening.

The event, which is in its 59th year, will also feature workshops, free family events, Morris dancing, belly dancing, and evening ceilidhs.

Shepherd Neame will have a bar again where visitors can enjoy beers including Whitstable Bay Blonde Lager, and Whitstable Bay Pale Ale, Spitfire Lager, Spitfire Amber Ale, Master Brew, First Drop and limited edition ale Go for Gold.

Three of the brewer’s pubs in the town — the Royal Albion Hotel, the Wrotham Arms, and the Neptune’s Hall — will be hosting live music.

“Broadstairs Folk Week is delighted to have Shepherd Neame as a principal sponsor this year for another year,” said festival director Jo Tuffs.

“With more than 300 musicians heading for Broadstairs Folk Week, it’s going to be a great week — and music and beer always make a great combination!”

Festival tickets are on sale now at www.broadstairsfolkweek.org.uk.

NEWS IN BRIEF

August means the return of Hammerton Brewery’s Tank 7 double-dry-hopped pale. The 5.6% ABV beer is hopped with Amarillo, Citra, Ekuanot, Mosaic, and Moteuka. “Tank 7 is full-bodied and bursting with tropical flavour, with powerful aromas of tangerines, fruit, and papaya,” says the brewer.

Bristol Beer Factory’s Trail Breaker IPA (5% ABV) is back. US hops Citra and Sabro are combined with Norwegian Kveik yeast, which introduces robust farmhouse flavours to a “zesty banger” of a brew.
